Phurba Tenjing Sherpa, carrying the Europe's largest Park's flag, reached the summit of Everest

A stormy May 2024 on Everest, with winds over 100 km/h and heavy snowfall that made the sharp ridges even more dangerous, did not prevent the achievement of the goals that Phurba Tenjing Sherpa, Davide Peluzzi's Explora association, and the Gran Sasso and Monti della Laga National Park had set for themselves.

For Phurba Tenjing Sherpa (World Ambassador of the Park and internationally renowned mountaineer) another dream has come true: the 16th ascent to the summit of the world by an expert mountaineer, holder of multiple international awards and the most records entered in the Guinness Book of World Records.

For the Park, the satisfaction of having in its friend Phurba a constant representative presence and of being able to see its flag flying on the roof of the world at 8848 m.

For Davide Peluzzi (also a World Ambassador for the Park), this confirms his constant presence, constantly opening up new avenues for cultural exchange and scientific research.

A gesture of brotherhood, a union of peoples and mountains that has lasted for 15 years between Phurba Tenjing Sherpa, Davide Peluzzi's Explora association, and the Gran Sasso and Monti della Laga National Park.

“There are moments when long-held projects come to fruition, projects that have, in the friendship between mountain peoples and in the brotherhood between peoples who believe in peace, iconic symbols and places like those of today,” states the President of the Park, Attorney Tommaso Navarra . “Beyond the significant international promotion of our natural area, Phurba Tenzing Sherpa has given us a gesture of absolute humanity by challenging the high-altitude currents of the Himalayas to reaffirm the value of our encounter, of our friendship, and of a nature so proudly free yet never distant from the man who knows how to respect it . ”

"A universal message of brotherhood and understanding of human limitations in relation to nature, experience, strength, determination, and friendship have made this achievement possible. Now we can draw on further positive energy to create a better future of peace for all," said Davide Peluzzi of the Explora team, to whom the organization extends its heartfelt thanks.
