Abruzzo at the top of the world with Phurba Tenjing Sherpa

On May 23, 2019 Nepalese the Himalayan mountaineer and Guinness World Record Everest Phurba Tenzing Sherpa, with his team Dreamers Destination, has completed a historic mission for which all of us from Abruzzo can be grateful and proud: the Flag of the Abruzzo Region waves at 8,848 meters on the summit of the highest and most famous mountain in the world, Everest in the Himalayas.

A universal message of brotherhood, gratitude and international cooperation that has lasted for 10 years between the Explora Nunaat International association and the Dreamers Destination, and which opens the frontiers to a new vision of the Abruzzo region in the world.




For this great international value of which Abruzzo can boast, theSeptember 9th 2019 at 11.00 am the “Abruzzo on top of the World” Press Conference was held at the Abruzzo International Airport in the presence of regional authorities and famous people from the mountaineering world, such as: Marco Marsilio (President of the Abruzzo Region), Lorenzo Sospiri (President of the Regional Council), Mauro Febbo (Regional Councilor for Tourism), Piero Fioretti (Regional Councilor to Research and Education), Giuseppe Bellachioma (Honorable of the Chamber of Deputies / Collegio Abruzzo), Carlo Masci (Mayor of Pescara), Enrico Paolini (President of SAGA International Airport of Abruzzo), Tommaso Navarra (President of the Parco del Gran Sasso and Monti of Laga), Filippo Lucci (Corecom Abruzzo president), Gaetano Falcone (CAI Abruzzo President), Davide Peluzzi (Explora Nunaat International Association President), Giorgio Marinelli (Ass. Explora Director), Simona Cardinali (Ass.Explora) and Phurba Tenjing Sherpa (Guinness World Record Everest and Honorary Goodwill Ambassador of Nepal Tourism).



The press conference presented the next mission of the Explora team “The Sky's Way to Sagarmatha / Everest”, starting on 19 October 2019, which provides for the construction of the highest Himalayan Refuge (at 5,800 meters) in synergy between Austria-Italy -Nepal and the construction of the Via Ferrata which will secure the second section to reach the bivouac object of interest not only alpinist and humanitarian, but above all of scientific research.

Finally the letter of commendation for the heroic enterprise to Phurba Tenjing Sherpa, Davide Peluzzi and to the Explora Dreamers Team was delivered by the President of the Abruzzo Region.
