The Ganjala pass is one of the most challenging passes in Nepal. The Langtang Ganjala Pass is closer to Kathmandu than other trekking region. Just after the monsoon, this trek gives superb views of the great peak of Langtang Lirung (7246m) and Ganesh Himal which dominates the upper valley and straddles the Tibetan border. In spring time it is an ideal place to spot birds and flowers of Nepal.
Our return route takes us past the holy lakes of Gosainkunda, an important place of pilgrimage, and over a high pass that brings us almost to the edge of Kathmandu itself. The land scapes we cross are extremely varied rice terraces, gigantic rhododendron and fir forests. In the altitide a rock and shrub wilderness set against a back a drop of snowy peaks, The crossing of Ganjala pass is high mountain, sometimes requires the use of ice axe and crampons.
The Helambu village excludes a Tibetan feel and you will see fields enclosed by stone walls as well as herds of yaks, the most important animal for the people here. From Tarke Gyang, we descend to Melamchi Khola before climbing to Pati Bhyanjyang, then trek down to Sundarijal, from here we drive back to Kathmandu.
Ganja la can be defined as an adventure trekking pass in Nepal Himalayas. The territory of pass is bit narrow and danger of rock falling. Trekkers must have to careful during the passing period.
